No, I’m not talking about TIVO the stock, but TiVo the product… I’ve been discussing with my brother, among other people, the pros/cons of going with a PC based PVR vs. a TiVo. Now I’m as much a techie as you’ll find, but for the life of me I can’t understand why anyone would want to watch TV on their computer screen. The last thing I want is to worry about Windows crashing while I’m trying to watch my favorite TV show. I may be mistaken, but those PC-based PVRs don’t interface with digital cable boxes or satellite boxes. That’s not even to mention that TiVo’s software has so many great features that you won’t find elsewhere. For a good comparison, check out this article in today’s USA Today. This seems like a good example of getting what you pay for.
