Down with Blog*Spot!

As some of you may know, I’m a Blogger.com/Blog*Spot defector. I really liked Blog*Spot, but they have grown way too fast, and can’t provide a decent level of service anymore. After blogging there for a few weeks, I decided to upgrade my account to their paid tier of service. I did this thinking that I’d get better page loading times (which were painfully slow!), as well as to get rid of the advertising. What a mistake that was! Immediately after upgrading, I was no longer able to publish. Even worse, my attempts to contact customer support have still not been answered (it’s been a month). So I’ve been watching with great pleasure the constantly increasing stream of people defecting from Blog*Spot. Here’s a nice summary of what’s going on – Blog*Spot Exodus Progress Report. I’m now hosted by BloggedUp, and their service is great by comparison. My hosting package is a very reasonably priced $35/year. They even handle installation of the blogging tool of your choice — for free. Another great looking option on the way is TypePad.
