QQQ Becoming QQQQ

FYI, I just got this notice from my broker:

QQQ’s transferring to NASDAQ National Market

The NASDAQ-100 Index Tracking StockSM, known as QQQSM, will transfer its listing to the NASDAQ National Market® on December 1, 2004 under the trading symbol QQQQ. However, the product will continue to be referred to as QQQ in NASDAQ marketing materials. With its listing on NASDAQ, QQQ will trade alongside the 100 NASDAQ-listed securities that comprise the NASDAQ-100 Index®. QQQ will not be subject to the downtick rule.

Important: If you should have any alerts set on the QQQ’s they will need to be revised with the new symbol on December 1, 2004 in order to remain active.

It’s worth checking whether that last part applies to your broker as well. I find it odd that they wouldn’t change the marketing to ‘QQQQ’ as well, but what do I know?
