Kudos to Stephen Vita for his blog, The Alchemy of Trading, being recommended in this week’s Barron’s Electronic Investor. Stephen has recently become a daily read for me, although he’s been blogging since last summer. (I don’t know how it is that I never found his site until last month…) Better late than never I guess.
The ‘Electronic Investor’ also has a run-down of RSS aggregators/newsreaders. They cover most of the popular readers. If you’ve never tried a newsreader I suggest trying Bloglines or, if you want a client-side application try RSSReader.
I am surprised that the authors of the column don’t like the concept of RSS though. Nor do I get their bit about adding “another set of interruptions to your day.” Perhaps they have pop-up alerts turned on for incoming messages or something. To me, RSS is far less intrusive and far more manageable than being bombarded by email alerts from various sites. As far as I’m concerned RSS is a great time-saving technology, especially for those who track many different websites.
