Stock Market Blogs TagCloud

I decided to try out TagCloud on my Bloglines Stocks/Finance folder. TagCloud analyzes the content of RSS feeds and pulls out what it deems to be the most important keywords (tags or folksonomy if you want to get fancy about it). So the cloud you see below are the most important tags from all the feeds that I track in my BlogLines account. The bigger the word, the more popular it is. Just click on a tag to be taken to a list of articles containing that tag. There’s also a shorter version over in the right column of my front page.

Could this be used as a contrarian/sentiment indicator? Seeing oil stand out like that in light of having just read Stephen Vita’s comments on oil makes me wonder…

    E,

It certainly could be used that way. Of course that assumes that most people have the same opinion about the stock/topic in question.

    TagClouds are Cool

Yeah. The other day I was thinking about how tagclouds are retarded. But, today I can’t remember why. The new tag cloud when posting to del.icio.us is especially cool. You’re probably gonna have to try del.icio.us yourself to see it.
