Watchlist for September 8, 2005

Crude oil is trading higher and we get the oil inventory report at 10:30 today. So once again, I’ll be waiting until at least 10:45 to make any moves. The reaction to this report should be even more interesting than usual. These days the action in the minutes after these reports get released is almost as nutty as the reactions to Fed decisions.

And you know I’m loving this note about Apple Computer that Briefing just posted (I’m long AAPL in my IRA)

08:57 AAPL Apple Computer: Nano A Home Run; Raising Price Target To $60 From $52 — Piper Jaffray (48.68 ).

My GOOG position is working well so far too. It closed above its 50-day moving average yesterday. Whew! :-)

We ALL *knew* that “counter-intuitive” GOOG move was going to work. We just wondered when you would finally get hip to it! :D

Hi tradermike, I was having difficulty in finding where you found the “gapping up” stock list through the briefing.com link above. It seems to happen to me quite often, where “gapping up” isn’t listed at the “In Play” webpage, or it will have yesterday’s “In Play” news.

Any tips on other sites that have the “gapping up” and “gapping down” information? I find it incredibly useful.

Hmm, looks like that Briefing on Yahoo is slightly behind. :-) I actually pull the gappers from my paid subscription to Briefing. They used to post the gappers on Yahoo as well. Maybe they don’t any more??? You can also try the Nasdaq Extended Hours Movers or Knight Trader. A real-time scanner will do the trick as well

Thanks for your help mike, I’ll look into those sites. Earlier in the year I used to just use In Play at Yahoo!, but they post the gapping ups less frequently than before (just came back to trading after a hiatus, I’m a novice).
