My 3rd Blogiversary…

I can’t believe it’s now been three years since I started this weblog. I was just looking at my 1st blogiversary post and was amazed at how much my site has grown since then. Here are the stats for the site at the end of year 1:

25,100 visits since April 8, 2003. 410 entries. 381 comments

And as of today:

741,198 visits, 1,633 entries (damn, did I write all that!?!), 2399 comments (and probably a million attempted spam comments)

What’s most amazing to me is that last month the site got over 55,000 visits — more than double the entire first year. That brings back memories of when I was only getting 50 visits/day. ’twas a much simpler time back then — very little comment spam, nobody stealing other people’s content just to make AdSense money (I see a new ‘aggregator’ site almost weekly)… I guess that’s progress.

(Edit: If you’re wondering what I’m talking about, here’s another of those ‘aggregator’ sites which is currently stealing content from me, MaoXian and several other blogs in an attempt to make money from ads.)

Anyway, I never imagined the site would be as popular as it is now. Thanks to all of you who keep stopping by, linking and, especially, sharing the site with your friends. I truly appreciate all the kind words people have sent me about the site and I’m glad that folks are finding it useful. I hope you all will continue to find the site helpful.

P.S. For posterity, since the data’s lost after 12 months, I need to continue my tradition of posting my traffic graphs.

Here’s the graph from August 31, 2004, just after the site crossed 50,000 visits:

And here’s the one from December 2, 2004, just after hitting 100,000 visits (the jump was mostly due to the Barron’s mention):

And here’s the current graph showing visits and page views:
