So did I miss anything exciting yesterday? I had a classic Comcast experience yesterday. As I wrote yesterday they suggested I exchange my modem because CLEARLY the connection issues were a problem with my equipment since they checked their network when I called and found no problems. So about an hour later, once I was back home and couldn’t get the new modem to connect I called them back. This time they told me that, surprise… there’s an outage in my area! WTF? I’ll probably rant more about them over the weekend…
The funny thing about all of this is that I think that the outage may have been a blessing in disguise. Judging from a few blogs, a good percentage of day traders got chopped up yesterday. I can’t say that I wouldn’t have been part of that club yesterday as well. I’ll probably have more to say about yesterday’s action over the weekend as well. Good trading today.
P.S. Oh no, it’s Friday the 13th again. I’m staying off of any two-wheeled vehicles. (see paragraph 3)

Mike,
I think I caught your comcast Virus. I swear my service has dropped at least 4 times between 8 – 11 AM.
Daaaaaamn Comcast…
ugh! Sorry to hear that
Hey Mike,
If you don’t get the Palm-as-modem on your 700p, you can always use the CyberTrader login directly from it. It’s fast and resembles the Open Positions window from CyberTrader Pro, and I use it a lot when I’m away from the PC.
Perfect backup for when your Comcast issues arise….

You need to install this software on your Treo 700p:
http://www.junefabrics.com/palmnet/
It allows you to use it as a broadband modem and when configured certain way, my provider Sprint PCS can’t tell I am using it this way and therefore there are no extra fees.
I have a 700p as well and I also use the webtrading feature for several of my brokers on that like IB.
Both can be very convenient in certain situations.
Do you have comcast phone service? If you do, there maybe and issue with how your account was setup. After I bitched and complained, they took a look at my setup and noticed that someone set up my VOIP and Internet on the same or different nodes or something to that effect. The stuff they talk about goes way over my head. Ask if they can look into how they setup you account in their computer system (meaning the technical mumo jumbo…baud rates…nodes..etc..) I know what I say is vague at best but it is something that you cannot see or touch and most cust. service reps have no clue about because it communications techie stuff and it resides in their computer systems. Try getting a hard core techie involved. My internet seems to be better. I am promised a call by one of their guys on Tuesday, I will share the deatils with you.
LP, right about the technical stuff going over my head also, but that was what France Telecom roughly did to us several years ago, even their technies could not figure it out, but my software engineer husband finally did.
We had no net connection for nearly a week because of their incompetence. We have since then switched to another provider which has been pretty good.
We just cannot understand why France Telecom stock has been in the doldrums for the last several years. Just can’t figure it out. Such a good, solid company. It’s a downright mystery.
LP.
No, I don’t have phone service through Comcast. If I had a land line phone, there’s no way I’d entrust it to Comcrap!
